Everton central midfielder Hope Akpan has joined Hull City on loan until the end of the season.

The Championship club have an option to sign the 19-year-old on a permanent deal in the summer.

"We do have options to make the deal permanent should we feel that it's right," Tigers boss Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We've got an agreement in place [with Everton], and hopefully it'll be a good addition to the squad."

Akpan is a product of the Toffee's youth system, and has made one appearance for the Everton first-team, as a substitute in the Europa League tie against BATE Borisov in December 2009.
