Hull offer trial to winger Thomas

Jerome Thomas
Thomas started his career as a trainee at Arsenal

Hull City are set to hand a trial to the former Portsmouth and Charlton winger Jerome Thomas, according to BBC Radio Humberside.

Thomas, 26, is a free agent following his release by Pompey at the end of last season and is looking to acquire a new club in time for the new term.

"It's a 'no brainer' for us really as there's no commitment from either side," said Hull boss Phil Brown.

"He's a lively player who just needs regular playing time."

Thomas started as a trainee at Arsenal before having two loan spells at Queens Park Rangers.

He remained in the capital when Charlton paid the Gunners £100,000 for his services making over 100 Premier League appearances for the Addicks.

A frustrating year at Fratton Park saw him feature only three times, all off the bench, and he was released by the south-coast club at the end of last season.

The former England Under-21 international will spend up to 10 days with the Tigers and could feature in the club's pre-season games during that time.
