Hull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard has undergone a scan on a knee injury he picked up in the defeat to West Ham.

The substitute appearance at Upton Park was Bullard's debut for the Tigers, but after being injured in a collision he was able to complete the game.

Manager Phil Brown told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's positive from Jimmy's point of view, the knee is stable.

"There was a slight meniscus tear when we did the scan on the medical which we thought we could manage."

Bullard did not feature in Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Brom but Brown said he is hopeful the former Fulham man will be fit for this weekend's trip to Chelsea.

"The lad's injured his knee in the game against West Ham which could have happened to any player," said Brown.

"The swelling's gone down and Jimmy was training in the gym today.

"He's not on the ground running yet but fingers crossed he won't have to go back into any surgery to investigate any further problems," he added.

Bullard missed more than 12 months of action when he was a Fulham player with a knee problem.
