Brown happy with transfer budget

Brown is remaining tight-lipped over the club's transfer budget

Hull City manager Phil Brown believes he has a "competitive" budget to work with for their debut top-flight season.

Reports had suggested Brown had over £30m to spend, but he told BBC Radio Humberside: "That is not the case.

"I'm not going to come out with a figure of exactly how much I've got to spend but it's certainly competitive, put it that way."

Meanwhile, Derby boss Paul Jewell says a deal has been done to make Craig Fagan's loan move at Hull permanent.

The two sides are believed to have agreed a figure of £750,000 for the former Birmingham trainee.

On Hull's transfer budget, Brown said: "The chairman and his board are reasonable men and want to enjoy this season, but they realise if they spent £5m they wouldn't enjoy it.

I think you sit around the table with reasonable people and you come to a reasonable conclusion

"Obviously, we've got to be up there [in wages and transfer fees] to compete."

The Tigers are already being linked with a host of names including Plymouth winger Peter Halmosi.

The Pilgrims have a higher valuation of the player than Hull but Brown said: "No, it's not put us off at all. I think you sit around the table with reasonable people and you come to a reasonable conclusion."
