Whitmore charged with manslaughter
The player took part in the 1998 World Cup
Hull City's Jamaican international Theodore Whitmore will appear in court on the Caribbean island on 28 October on manslaughter charges after being granted bail of £130,000.
The charges relate to the death of team-mate Steven "Shorty" Malcolm in a car accident in January of last year. Mr Malcolm was killed in the crash after both players represented Jamaica in a friendly international. Mr Whitmore appeared in the Duncans Resident Magistrate Courts on Saturday after the judge issued a warrant for his arrest. The 29-year-old has been allowed to keep his travel documents but must report to police officials before departing the island. Mr Whitmore played a key role Jamaica's historic qualification for the 1998 World Cup finals. He has been playing at Hull for the last three seasons.
