Drinkwater is yet to make his first team debut for Manchester united
Huddersfield Town have signed Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old, who has been capped by England under-19s, will go straight into the Town squad to face Southampton in League One on Saturday.
Huddersfield manager Lee Clark told BBC Radio Leeds: "We have tracked Danny for a long time and he is a player we like very much.
"He is a very good footballer and can play across the midfield."
Drinkwater has come through the Manchester United academy after being born and brought up within walking distance of the club's training facilities.
Clark says the midfielder's versatility will prove invaluable: "He can play in an attacking role too, can pass the ball very well and can get into goal-scoring positions. He adds competition to the squad.
"I think Sir Alex [Ferguson, Manchester United manager] takes a lot of time and thought over his young players, as he sees them to be very important to what he is doing there, which we've all seen over the years.
"I've been in conversation with him to try and strike a deal, thankfully he has agreed to that and we are delighted and very grateful."
