Huddersfield give trial to Jansen

Matt Jansen
Jansen's career was rocked by a motorcycle accident in Rome in 2002

Former Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Jansen scored for Huddersfield's reserves on Wednesday as he continued his trial at the League One club.

The 31-year-old was on target in their 2-2 draw at Rotherham.

Boss Lee Clark told the club website: "We know Matt through a mutual friend of ours - he is looking at getting back involved in football again.

"He's only been training with us for a couple of days but wants to start enjoying himself and playing again."

"We have given him that opportunity, but there is no pressure on either side."

Jansen has been out of the game for almost three years with a series of injuries - his last game was for Bolton in April 2006.

Despite being sidelined for so long, Jansen - who began his career at Carlisle, boasts an impressive scoring record with 66 goals in 164 league appearances.

Clark added: "We are happy to help him progress as he tries to get back into football, but it's too early to say what will happen.

"We are having a look at each other and we will take things from there."

The former Manchester United target had been on trial with Blackburn but did not earn a permanent deal.
