Huddersfield Town chairman Ken Davy has said the club's supporters "deserve more from their team".
Saturday's disappointing 2-1 loss to Southend was the Terriers' seventh home defeat of the season and Davy said that was not good enough.
"Huddersfield supporters deserve more from their team than is currently being delivered, particularly on their home turf," he told the club website.
"They have a right to expect to see passion, determination and enthusiasm."
The defeat to the Shrimpers at the Galpharm Stadium left Huddersfield as close to the League One relegation places as the play-offs, and manager Andy Ritchie admitted afterwards that promotion was probably an unrealistic target now with just nine games remaining.
We are failing to perform at our best and we need to put that right as soon as possible
Huddersfield chairman Ken Davy
Davy continued: "Southend are a pretty good side but during the first half of Saturday's match we made them look like Premiership material, and whilst we improved in the second half it was not enough to bring us the points.
"What is particularly disappointing is that we have some excellent players who take real pride in playing for this great club and we have achieved some terrific scalps this season, including the victory over Birmingham [in the FA Cup].
"All too often, however, we are failing to perform at our best and we need to put that right as soon as possible for the benefit of everyone who supports Huddersfield Town."
