Histon play down bailiffs visit to Bridge Road

Histon

Histon chairman Russell Hands has moved to reassure fans over the visit of bailiffs to Bridge Road ahead of Saturday's home match with Newport.

The club are bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier after receiving a five point deduction for submitting misleading financial information.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's all just a misunderstanding.

"It's to do with an accounting bill of around £12,000, which we've questioned and is set to be discussed in court."

As well as the points deduction , the club have been placed on a transfer embargo so have been unable to register players during the January window.

Hands, who has been in charge since the summer, says dealing with the club's debts has proved difficult.

"Shabby is probably the nicest thing I could say about the paperwork we were handed on arriving at this club," he said.

"We've spent hours and hours assessing the situation and reaching agreements with our creditors."

Histon are without a win in 13 matches in all competitions, but picked up their second draw in a week with a 0-0 draw against Newport.
