Lee Smith pleased with return to Histon

Histon midfielder Lee Smith has said he is gradually adapting to life back at the Glass World.

The 22-year-old returned to the Stutes having initially failed to agree new terms over the summer.

Smith told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm gradually getting back into it, but I had a bit of a torrid summer after ending last year very well.

"I'm starting to get back into it, although it's going more slowly than I'd like."

Smith, who can play right across midfield, originally signed for Histon from Bury Town in the summer of 2009.

He left the club following the arrival of John Beck, but agreed a new deal with David Livermore having taken the helm.

"I know I can play a lot better than I have been, but it takes time to get things right," he said.

Histon travel to high-flying Luton on Saturday, unbeaten in their last two away matches in the league but still just a point above the relegation zone.

"I love going into matches as the underdogs because more often that not we do well," Smith said.

"We did well there last year, getting three goals in 10 minutes, so we're going to get back on the training ground and keep grinding out results."
