Histon boss rules out more exits

Histon boss Steve Fallon does not expect any more departures from the Glass World this summer now most of his squad are back under contract.

Jack Midson, Patrick Ada and Antonio Murray have all chosen to leave the club after their contracts expired.

Fallon told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We don't expect to sell anyone who is under contract.

"If we do sell it would have to be a good offer as we are building to get out of this league."

Craig Pope, Gareth Gwillim, Jamie Barker and Neil Andrews and reserve goalkeeper Joe Welch have each agreed new one-year deals with the club.

Captain Mat Mitchel-King is the only player with a contract offer still on the table.

The 25-year-old has to choose between going fully professional elsewhere, or remaining part-time with the Stutes.

"We ideally want it all sorted out fairly sharpish, but we're willing to wait as long as possible," Fallon said.

The likes of Lanre Oyebanjo and Josh Simpson have been linked with moves away from the Glass World, however Fallon says the emphasis is now on adding to the squad.

"It's been important to keep the nucleus as even to replace the few we have lost is a big ask," he said.

"But we're confident the players that come in will be young and hungry and in a couple of year's time we'll have the same problem."

Former Cambridge City striker Michael Frew is the only new arrival at the Glass World so far this summer.

Fallon says he is chasing a number of targets, but that fringe players such as midfielder John Kennedy will also have the chance to impress him.

"He went from player of the year to hardly to getting a look in, but as much as it can turn one way it can turn the other."
