Langston relishes Swansea clash

Histon goal hero Matthew Langston believes Swansea City will not be looking forward to their FA Cup third round tie at the Glass World Stadium.

The 27-year-old scored the crucial goal in the Stutes' 1-0 second round win over Leeds United on Sunday.

Langston told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "All you can ask for is a home draw in the FA Cup.

"Swansea won't fancy coming here, but it will be a tough game so it's one to look forward to."

The Blue Square Premier side were drawn against the Swans after surviving a second-half onslaught from Leeds.

Lubomir Michalik hit a Histon post and had an effort acrobatically cleared off the line by Antonio Murray.

Langston added: "We did ride our luck. I think you're going to have to in these sorts of situations.

"They were going to throw everyone forward like they did and Lady Luck was with us, so it was fantastic for the club."

Stutes chairman Gareth Baldwin has overseen the astronomical rise of the club, achieving four promotions in the last eight seasons.

After the third round draw he said: "Obviously, we'd rather have had Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United or Liverpool away but, hey, we've beaten Leeds at home so why not Swansea City?

"Myself and Lisa (wife) take an enormous amount of personal pride from this. It is very special for everybody associated with Histon and long may it continue."

It has been a fairytale season so far for the Cambridgeshire village side, who currently sit second in the Blue Square Premier.

And manager Steve Fallon believes the draw gives them an opportunity to progress further in the FA Cup.

"I just wanted us to be at home because it always gives us a chance," he said. "If Leeds played Swansea tomorrow you'd probably think that Leeds could beat Swansea.

"There's no reason why we can't go out there and beat them. I think Havant beat them last year so they can be beaten."

The third round tie will be played at the Glass World Stadium on the weekend of 3/4 January 2009.
