Calderwood in hunt for new players

By Brian McLauchlin

Hibernian boss Colin Calderwood says that the officials in Saturday's home game against Celtic should be under no more pressure than in a normal match.

Calderwood saw referee Willie Collum make some debatable decisions in Celtic's draw at Hamilton on Wednesday.

He said: "Hopefully it's going to be a lively atmosphere. We want controversy, some talking points in the game.

"There isn't any great importance in them being better than they have been. They've got to do their job."

Collum will be the fourth official when 10th-place Hibs host league leaders Celtic in the Scottish Premier League at the weekend, a role Calderwood considers important.

He said: "There are rules for coaches and managers and in technical areas you have to be respectful of the officials.

"They've got to be respectful of the situation you're in as well.

"The fourth official has a huge influence on the conduct in those areas.

"The ones new to being a fourth official are a bit more lively than ones with a bit of experience."

Celtic manager Neil Lennon played 21 times under Calderwood when he was in charge at Nottingham Forest and says he always thought his midfielder would make a good manager.

"He's heading in the right direction and it's quite an achievement, what he's done so far," said the former Scotland defender.

"He was always very much a leader in the dressing room and had all the right attributes. He was a great example of handling pressure.

"Without finishing the season for us, he had a massive input - he had a big influence on a lot of people.

"His knowledge, experience and value to the team was incredible."
