Hibernian have signed former Celtic and Manchester United midfielder Liam Miller on a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international was a free agent after being released by QPR in May.

"I am excited about joining Hibernian and have been impressed by the set-up at the training centre," Miller told the club website.

"I can't wait to start training with the boys and competing for a place in the team."

Miller began his career at Celtic before switching to Old Trafford in 2004.

He struggled to make an impact with Manchester United and moved on to Sunderland for a three-year stint before joining QPR in January.

The Londoners decided against offering him new terms at the end of last season, leaving him searching for a new club.

"I am delighted that we have secured the services of a player with the experience and qualities of Liam Miller," said manager John Hughes.

"I said at the end of the transfer window that we would not stop looking for the type of player we felt would enhance our squad, and I don't think there is any doubt that Liam will do that.

"When you look at the clubs Liam has played for, you know that he is a footballer of real quality, and at 28 is at an age where his best years are still ahead of him."
