Paatelainen is still waiting for his first league win with Hibs
|
Manager Mixu Paatelainen was upset at Hibs' start to the 1-1 draw at Tannadice but took heart from an improved second half display.
Paatelainen said: "We gave the ball away far too easily in the first half and we were pretty poor.
"Our passing was horrendous and we practiced all week on how to play Dundee United, but when the match started we didn't do those moves.
"We were better in the second half and started creating chances."
Noel Hunt put United in front from the penalty spot but John Rankin levelled with a shot which was misjudged by home goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska.
Steven Fletcher hit the post with a spectacular overhead kick, while Colin Nish and Dean Shiels wasted great chances in the closing stages.
"With a little bit of luck we might have got a winner, but it was too late and you have to play for 90 minutes," added Paatelainen.
"All in all I thought United wanted to win the game more than us, as they won the 50-50s and every loose ball."
