Two clinical late goals from Alexsandr Melaschenko helped dump Hibernian out of the Uefa Cup in Dnipropetrovsk.
Sergey Nazarenko's deflected drive gave Dnipro the lead within a minute, but Derek Riordan slotted in the equaliser.
Bogdan Shershun quickly fired home from close range and Oleg Shelayev scored from a penalty after Chris Hogg was ruled to have fouled Serhiy Kornilenko.
Hibs dominated possession throughout but were caught again on the break when Melaschenko added two fine finishes.
Dnipro, struggling in the Ukrainian league, had made one important change from the first leg, though striker Ruslan Kostyshin was still banned and influential midfielder Aleksandr Rykun out injured.
Nazarenko returned from suspension to replace Kostyantyn Kravchenko and made an instant impact as Hibs were caught cold within 30 seconds.
David Murphy's poor headed clearance from a long throw into the box fell to the unmarked midfielder, whose drive from the edge of the area deflected off Gary Caldwell and into the far corner of the net.
Hibs goalkeeper Zbigniew Malkowski saved well from Denis Andrienko's 12-yard drive after another quick break.
But Hibs were playing neat football and Steven Whittaker made a great run from defence before putting Riordan clear with only the goalkeeper to beat.
However, the striker delivered a disappointing finish against the body of Artem Kusliy.
Hibs were briefly level when Caldwell chipped the ball through to Riordan, who chested it down before steering it home from 12 yards.
But the Edinburgh side, for whom Kevin Thomson had recovered from weekend injury, immediately went behind again after conceding a corner.
Malkowski saved Shershun's first attempt - then Alexandr Gritsay's shot on the rebound - only for the third attempt to be fired low past the Polish goalkeeper.
Hibs looked capable of pulling level again but fell foul of a soft penalty award when Hogg was adjudged to have pulled Kornilenko as the striker latched on to a Nazarenko through ball.
Shelaev sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Caldwell had the ball in the net after the break, flicking on a shot from Hogg only to be ruled offside, and Riordan missed another great chance.
Dnipro adopted a containing game that stifled Hibs' chances of progressing beyond the first round of the Uefa Cup for the first time since 1989.
Melaschenko ended them with a piledriver from 18 yards.
Substitute Steven Fletcher thought his low drive had reduced the arrears, only for Ivan Sproule to be ruled offside, before Melaschenko volleyed in Dnipro's fifth goal.
