Hereford United have completed the signing of Darlington defender Ryan Valentine on a 12-month contract.

Valentine started his career as a trainee with Everton, before joining Darlington and then moving to Wrexham. He rejoined the Quakers in early 2008.

Hereford manager John Trewick told the Bulls website he was delighted to bring the 26-year-old to Edgar Street.

"He's a full back and can operate at both left back and right back. I'm very happy to have signed him," he said.

In the 2006/07 season Valentine played a vital part in Wrexham's survival bid, as he scored the penalty in their must-win game against Boston United which levelled the score at 1-1.

Wrexham won the game 3-1 and stayed in the Football League.

He was first signed by Darlington in July 2002 and moved to Wrexham on a free transfer in the summer of 2006.
