Hearts boss Jim Jefferies hails clinical finishing

Jefferies' side recorded their fourth consecutive win against Hamilton

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies was pleased to see his side grind out a 2-0 win against Hamilton in a tough league encounter at Tynecastle.

"Hamilton worked hard, but I knew they would, so this was never going to be an easy game," said Jefferies.

"It wasn't a great game, but I knew it wouldn't be a great game before the match started.

"Sometimes you just have to accept it and grind it out. Three or four weeks ago, we wouldn't have won that game."

Rudi Skacel's 32nd-minute volley gave Hearts the lead before David Templeton added a second after the interval.

Hamilton's Simon Mensing missed an 80th-minute penalty, but Jefferies praised his players on their clinical finishing and commended the visitors on making life difficult for Hearts.

"Simon didn't hit a bad penalty - it was just a tremendous save," said Jefferies. "When things are going your way, these things happen.

"Overall, I thought our goals were two very good finishes, showing good ability to produce two goals - it was the quality that separated the teams.

"We played a bit too far forward in the early stages and gave them an extra man on the park.

"Once we got that sorted, we had more chances and we just had to be careful at free-kicks and corners.

"But we coped with it, and this team has the resilience and determination and work ethic to grind out a result."
