Jackson eyes hot seat
Darren Jackson
Jackson has picked up his Uefa introductory coaching badge
Hearts striker Darren Jackson has revealed that he plans to move into management when he decides to bring the curtain down on his successful playing career.

At the end of last season the former Newcastle, Dundee United, Hibernian and Celtic star gained his first UEFA introductory coaching badge at Largs.

This season the former Scottish international will continue along that path after Hearts manager Jim Jefferies allowed him to help out youth coach John McGlynn.

Jackson was delighted to pick up his badge and insists he is learning all the time what it takes to become a top manager.

Maybe I won't give the manager as much stick now! The course helped me appreciate what they go through
  Darren Jackson

"I passed and that is the main thing. It was a hard week, to be truthful, and very intense.

"Being on the course gave me a great insight into that part of the game. You know how hard it is for a manager but at the end of it you appreciate just how difficult the job is.

"Maybe I won't give the manager as much stick now! The course helped me appreciate what they go through.

"They have decisions to make, on-the-spot decisions. You appreciate managers but after this you appreciate them a bit more. It is a hard business."
