Craig Levein previously managed Hearts from 2000 to 2004
Dundee United manager Craig Levein says he is unaware about any approach from Hearts to make him their new manager.
"I know nothing about it. It's a bit of a pain really. I am happy here at Tannadice and I'm enjoying my job," Levein told BBC Scotland.
Former Motherwell manager Billy Davies and Kilmarnock's Jim Jefferies are also said to be on the shortlist for the vacant manager's post at Tynecastle.
Motherwell's Mark McGhee has already turned down the Hearts job.
United chief executive, Stephen Thompson, issued a hands-off warning to Hearts over his manager.
"Craig Levein is very happy here. We are currently planning together for next season and the future," he said.
Davies has been out of work since he was sacked as manager of Derby County last November and is understood to be keen for a move back to Scotland.
Levein and Jefferies are both former Hearts managers and while the club's owner, Vladimir Romanov, may be interested in speaking to Levein, the Tannadice manager recently said that he has wants to try his luck again in England after his stint with Leicester City.
