Stephen Frail has said communication between the Hearts management team is "not ideal" after the draw with Gretna.
Stephen Frail said the translation experience was frustrating
Frail remained in the dugout as interim head coach Anatoly Korobochka and reserve coach Angel Cerenkov watched from the directors' box.
"Because of the situation, we decided to go with the two of the guys up in the directors' box," said Frail.
"Sometimes it takes a while to get through with the translation and stuff - it's not ideal."
The former Hearts defender communicated with Korobochka and Bulgarian Cerenkov via translator Konstantin Kornakov who used a mobile phone from pitchside.
Frail had to speak through Kornakov to accept instructions and make substitutions, and also lost his cool with a supporter at one stage with the game still at 0-0.
"I have not got carte blanche to make substitutions.
"If managers are in the stand I am sure assistants would be looking for guidance as well.
"It's just frustrating, the whole day has been really frustrating," added Frail.
