Hearts have completed the signing of French midfielder Julien Brellier on a two-year contract.
Julien Brellier will be wearing No.28
The 23-year-old was signed by Inter Milan as a teenager but was later loaned out to Venezia and Salernatana.
Brellier impressed as a trialist and manager George Burley said: "He is 23 and has his best years in front of him, so to get him for free is very good.
"He is a hard-working midfielder, more of a defensive player and will complement what we already have here."
Defenders Ibrahim Tall and Michael Lamey are also being considered by the Edinburgh club.
Tall is from Senegal and has played for French side Sochaux, while Lamey has previously been loaned out by PSV Eindhoven to Alkmaar and Utrecht.
Burley has already signed Czech trio Michal Pospisil, Rudi Skacel and Roman Bednar along with Lithuanian striker Edgar Jankauskas.
"That's five I have signed so far, but this club has lost 10 players over the last six months, so there are obviously gaps that need to be filled," he said.
"Hopefully, we can get some more in before the closure of the transfer window."
Meanwhile, Hearts have banned smoking from their ground from next season and appointed David Southern to the new role of communications director.
The former executive director of PR firm Harrison Cowley previously co-owned Atlantic Public Relations and worked with organisations such as Murray International Holdings, Whyte and Mackay, Halcrow, law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn, Scottish Racing and Rangers and Leeds United football clubs.
