Robson still open to Hearts offer
Sir Bobby Robson
Bobby Robson has already had talks with Hearts
Sir Bobby Robson has suggested that he would entertain more talks with Hearts about the manager's post at Tynecastle.

The former England and Newcastle coach had earlier expressed doubts about such a move after the sacking of Hearts' chief executive of Phil Anderton.

"It is still an open book," Robson, 72, told Scotland Today. "It depends how far Hearts want to pursue it.

"I know there is another job in me. I am not in a hurry to take the wrong job, but I am ready for the right one."

Anderton had interviewed Robson about a possible move to Edinburgh but left Hearts after a disagreement with majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.

"I thought Phil was a top man," said Robson on Wednesday. "In fact, I came home and said to myself I could work for him as he is intelligent, forthright and honest.

"But he has lost his job and it does give me a lot of concern."

George Foulkes branded Romanov a dictator after resigning as chairman in protest at the departure of Anderton, who had left a week after manager George Burley exited Tynecastle.

Interference from Romanov in their jobs appears to have been a major reason behind the departures of Anderton and Burley, who had led the club to the top of the Scottish Premier League.

Robson, who previously indicated that he would want sole say in team affairs, told nobok.com: "I know George very, very well and got to know Philip Anderton just as well in a way and liked him a lot.

"The owner or chairman at any football club is a very important man.

"Because if he is right then, more often than not, the club will be right through him.

"So I am just waiting, watching, listening and looking."

Roman Romanov, appointed temporary chairman and chief executive, is working with his father in choosing a new team manager.
