Pereira is 'the new Novo'

Hearts head coach Craig Levein believes new signing Ramon Pereira can be as successful in the Scottish Premier League as Nacho Novo.

Pereira will be officially unveiled as a Hearts signing on Friday after, like Novo, proving himself with Raith Rovers in Division One.

Levein said: "We are taking a bit of a chance - it's a step up for him.

"But Raith have had players like Nacho Novo who have done well and hopefully Ramon will do the same for us."

Novo has gone on to play for Dundee and his scoring exploits at Dens Park has led him to be on the verge of signing for Celtic and Rangers.

Pereira, who left Stark's Park at the end of the season, has signed a one-year deal with the Edinburgh club and will be unveiled at a media conference on Friday along with former Livingston defender Jamie McAllister.
