Hearts are to offer former Inter Milan midfielder Sebastian Rambert the chance to win a contract in Scotland.

The Edinburgh side will field the 28-year-old Argentine in a closed-doors friendly with St Johnstone on Wednesday and manager Craig Levein will keep a close eye on the player voted the fourth best in South America in 1994.

Rambert is a free agent after being released by the Greek side Iraklis.

"He has a very good pedigree and we obviously need to find out whether he has lost any of the hunger of his younger days," said Levein.

"He trained with us and certainly looked a good football player, so we'll play him against St Johnstone and see how he does.

"If he does well we will play him on Saturday against Falkirk, and then make a decision."

Rambert can also boast Independiente, River Plate and Boca Juniors among his former clubs.
