Fuller fills Hearts gap

Hearts have strengthened their attacking line with the three month loan signing of Jamaican international Ricardo Fuller.

The capture of the 6ft 3ins hitman ends weeks of searching for the Edinburgh club, who saw a move for Fiorentina attacker Georgeos Vakouftsis fall through.

Fuller, who has played on six occasions for his country, is in line for a place in the squad for Sunday's Edinburgh derby with Hibs at Easter Road.

The Tynecastle club's need for firepower was heightened following the news that young Northern Ireland striker Andy Kirk will be out for months due to ankle ligament damage.

Hearts have also been using Canadian defender Kevin McKenna as a makeshift forward for much of the season.

It is believed the issue of a work permit may be a final stumbling block for the move, although Hearts are confident this can be resolved by the weekend.

Club spokesperson Douglas Dalgleish stated: "We are ahead of the game on that one and don't forsee any difficulties."

22-year-old Fuller was on the books of Crystal Palace last year but has since being plying his trade with Jamaican club Tivoli Gardens.
