Mahe completes Hearts move
Mahe has signed a two-year deal with Hearts
Mahe has signed a two-year deal with Hearts
Hearts have confirmed the signature of Celtic defender Stephane Mahe at a press conference at Tynecastle.

There was no fee involved, but the 32-year-old put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Mahe spent Tuesday at Tynecastle completing a medical and finalising the details of the move.

Delighted Hearts manager Craig Levein said: "We are always looking to improve the playing squad with quality players and I have been tracking him since taking over the job at Hearts.

"He's an experienced and quality player who plays from the heart.

"Before I arrived we had no left-sided players - now we have three and I think the balance is just right."

Mahe added: "When the gaffer said there was interest from Hearts I had no hesitation in joining."

Meanwhile, Hearts have also been linked with moves for one of Celtic's reserve goalkeepers with Hearts keeper Antti Niemi the centre of continuing speculation regarding a move to Charlton.

There's been no negotiations with Celtic about Stewart Kerr or Jonathan Gould

Hearts boss Craig Levein admitted that he was offered the services of Stewart Kerr during the negotiations for Mahe, but said he had made no enquiries about Jonathan Gould.

"Stewart's name has come up a couple of times, but we are not negotiating with Celtic about Stewart Kerr.

"We have not heard anything new from Charlton as regards Antti Niemi, but if he was to leave then that would make it more urgent to sign a new keeper.
