Hartlepool United have appointed former Chester City boss Mick Wadsworth as first-team coach at Victoria Park.

Wadsworth, 59, has a wealth of coaching experience at clubs such as Newcastle and Oldham and also internationally with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"His experience within the game is immense," director of sport Chris Turner told the club's website.

"He has worked in the Premier League with world class players, and his enthusiasm shone through."

Wadsworth, who replaces the departed Colin West, left Chester City in October 2009, the latest post in a managerial career which began professionally with Carlisle United in 1993.
