Turner wants a repeat of last season's run to the fourth round FA Cup
Hartlepool United director of sport Chris Turner has targeted FA Cup progress to improve the club's financial status.
Last season's FA Cup run took Pools to the fourth round, earning them around £125,000, and there are similar prize funds on offer this campaign.
"It's a great opportunity," Turner told BBC Tees.
"It's a big competition and a chance to get some finance and a bit of glory like we did last season."
As a player Turner never made it to an FA Cup final, but was a League Cup finalist on two occasions, the second being Sheffield Wednesday's 1-0 win against Manchester United at Wembley in 1991.
Since his route into management Turner's most prolific campaign came with Pools last season.
And with home status for the visit of Blue Square Premier high-fliers Kettering, the former Sheffield Wednesday manager is positive about the game.
"You're always pleased when you're drawn at home," Turner said.
"Our players have to show Kettering total respect, but go and attack them, there will be no changes on Saturday."
Hartlepool United play Kettering in the FA Cup first round at Victoria Park on Saturday, 7 November.
