Wilson targets troubled Carlisle

Danny Wilson
Wilson believes Carlisle will be down after Saturday's loss to Colchester

Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson believes his side can turn up the heat on troubled Carlisle United when they travel to Brunton Park on Tuesday.

Saturday's 5-0 defeat at Colchester left Carlisle without a win in eight games and Wilson urged his side to help extend the Cumbrians' barren run.

"We go to Carlisle in good spirits, knowing that there might be a waver in their confidence," he told BBC Tees.

"If we can get on top of them, who knows what might happen there."

Meanwhile Pools enjoyed a much more profitable Saturday afternoon, after striker Kevin Kyle notched his third goal in two games to earn a 1-0 win against Brighton at Victoria Park.

And despite the physical nature of the weekend's win, Wilson is confident of a full-strength side being available for Tuesday's trip across the A69.

"There's one or two lads a little bit tired but that's only to be expected with the programme we've all had," he said.

"In this period, we've got to dust ourselves down and get ready for Tuesday."

Ironically Hartlepool were drawn against Brighton in Sunday's FA Cup first round draw, with the game taking place at the Withdean Stadium on the weekend of the 8-9 November.
