Accies manager Billy Reid praises Dougie Imrie strike

Hamilton manager Billy Reid singled out Dougie Imrie's wonder strike as the missing link in their 1-0 win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Imrie struck from distance in the first half to hand the Lanarkshire side their first points, and goal, of the season.

"We started the game really well and Dougie Imrie's goal was fit to win any game," Reid told BBC Scotland.

"I thought we controlled most of the first half, we got the ball down and controlled the game pretty well."

The best Inverness could muster was a half chance for Nick Ross and an Adam Rooney effort that Andy Graham cleared and Reid felt his injury-ravaged side were worthy winners on the afternoon.

It was team work, with a team ethic and I said to the players that we have key players to come back and if they can hang in there and dig in, we'll be fine

"We knew Inverness would come out and pin us back with high balls into the box, and that's what it was - it was an aerial bombardment," said Reid.

"When you have key players missing, it's a lot to contend with.

"We always looked a threat on the break and I thought we could have scored, but all in all it was a fantastic performance.

"It was team work, with a team ethic and I said to the players that we have key players to come back and if they can hang in there and dig in, we'll be fine."
