PSV's Nigel Hasselbaink wins transfer to Hamilton

Hamilton Academical

Hamilton Accies have signed Nigel Hasselbaink, the nephew of former Chelsea and Netherlands striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The 19-year-old, who had impressed on trial, arrives from PSV Eindhoven having been loaned to Go Ahead Eagles last season.

Accies manager Billy Reid told his club website: "Nigel gives us more options up front.

"He is pacey and has a good shot. I've liked what I've seen in him."

Accies had also been in negotiations with Dundee about the permanent transfer of striker Mickael Antoine-Curier, who was on loan to the Scottish Premier League club last season.

All clearances now go through Fifa, so it takes a bit longer than it used to

They are now awaiting international clearance to play Hasselbaink, who also had a trial with Dundee United before joining Accies, in a competitive match.

So he could miss out on playing for his new club in Tuesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup tie against Raith Rovers at Stark's Park.

Acces secretary Scott Struthers added: "All clearances now go through Fifa, so it takes a bit longer than it used to.

"We are working on it as quickly as we can and hope that the Dutch authorities can do the needful at their end."
