Hamilton Academical have been rewarded for their form since the turn of the year by scooping all three Clydesdale Bank Premier League awards for January.

Billy Reid has been named Manager of the Month, while goalkeeper Tomas Cerny, who kept five successive clean sheets, is Player of the Month.

Midfielder James McCarthy is Young Player of the Month.

The Accies won all five games, four of them in the Premier League, in January to move 11 points clear of trouble.

They have also reached the quarter finals of the Homecoming Scottish Cup.

They extended their winning run last Saturday with the 2-1 Cup fifth round win over Dundee United to earn a likely sixth round tie at Ibrox, if Rangers can get past Forfar Athletic next week in their delayed tie.

McCarthy, 18, has won many admirers with his assured performances in the top flight and has been watched by a number of leading British clubs.

"It's great to be linked with big clubs," the teenager told BBC Scotland.

"But I'm delighted to be playing week-in, week-out with Hamilton in the SPL."

Reid's men now prepare for the Lanarkshire derby against local rivals Motherwell on Saturday.

They will face an equally in-form 'Well side who have not lost in eight games since McCarthy's two goals earned the Accies a 2-0 win at New Douglas Park on 20 December.
