Second Accies chance for Carrigan

SPL newcomers Hamilton Accies have handed striker Brian Carrigan a chance to resurrect his senior career by giving him a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old left Accies for Linlithgow Rose two years ago and netted 66 goals for the junior side.

Rose received a fee of £17,500 - a record for a junior side - and the clubs met in a friendly on Tuesday.

Carrigan, who has a slight ankle knock looked on as Hamilton won 3-2, with a double from James McArthur.

Substitute Paul McLeod was also on target for a strong Accies side, who begin their SPL campaign at home to Dundee United on Monday evening.

Carrigan began his career with Clyde, but he made just five starts for Stockport County after the English club paid out £150,000 for him in 2000.

He went on to play for Clydebank and Raith Rovers, joining Hamilton in 2003.
