Long-serving Halifax Town defender Paul Stoneman has been appointed as the Shaymen's new youth-team coach.
The 30-year-old, who joined Town from Blackpool eight years ago, will combine his new duties with continuing to play, provided he proves his fitness following a knee injury.
Manager Chris Wilder said: "We wanted to appoint someone who was well respected to front the youth set-up.
"Paul wants to get into coaching and he took the youth team a couple of times last season when Sean was not able to do
"He has given fantastic service to the club as a player and is the sort of character you want about the place.
"I would not say he is retiring because he will be keeping himself fit and will be one of four central defenders at the club," Wilder told the Halifax Evening Courier newspaper.
