Clarke signs new Grimsby contract

Grimsby Town

Defender Jamie Clarke has signed a new one-year contract with Grimsby Town.

The 26-year-old was a regular following the arrival of Mike Newell as manager, making 32 appearances as the Mariners avoided relegation from League Two.

Clarke told the club's website: "Every day I see that players have been released and it is a really uncertain time for a player out of contract.

"It's good to get things tied up for another year and I can now have a few weeks to recharge the batteries."
