Grimsby Town defender Matthew Bird has had his trial with Manchester United cut short because of injury.
Bird, 18, suffered a recurrence of a knee problem that has restricted him to just 90 minutes of action this season while training with United on Tuesday.
The highly-rated centre half was spotted by the Premier League champions playing for the Mariners' youth team.
Bird has been told he can return to Old Trafford to resume his trial when he is back to full fitness.
