Grimsby chairman Peter Furneaux has blasted back at former Mariners striker Michael Boulding for his part in the sacking of ex-boss Paul Groves.
Boulding had claimed the sacking of Groves was the final straw which made him decide to join Barnsley.
But Furneaux says he is as much to blame for Groves' fate as anyone.
"I was unhappy to lose Michael because he was a part of the side, but he was in the team during the run that lead to Paul Groves' exit," said Furneaux.
He added: "It was obvious that something had to change.
"No fingers have been pointed at any individual players but everyone has to take responsibility for Paul Groves' departure," he told the club's official website.
Grimsby won 2-1 against Brighton on Saturday to move four points away from the relegation zone.
