Gretna owner Brooks Mileson praised his Hearts counterpart Vladimir Romanov as the tiny Scottish club clinched a Uefa Cup place for the first time.
The Second Division champions qualify as Scottish Cup finalists, after Hearts secured a Champions League position.
"I'd like to congratulate Mr Romanov and the Hearts team," he told BBC Scotland's Sportsound programme.
"It's not only for the great favour they've done for us, but for what he's achieved," added Mileson.
"I can't praise him highly enough. He's done great things for Scottish football."
Mileson told BBC Scotland he followed the final 15 minutes of Hearts' momentous victory over Aberdeen on Radio Scotland's Sportsound after having attended the Morton v Peterhead play-off match at Cappielow, to support Peterhead.
He confirmed that Gretna would play their European ties at Motherwell's Fir Park stadium.
"I'd like to think a lot of Scottish football supporters will want to come along and support us," he added.
