Ebbsfleet chairman John Moules has decided to step down from his position at the club.
Moules joined Fleet in 2008 and has also been acting chief executive since April on a voluntary basis.
"I agreed to take both positions on because the club have been going through a difficult summer," he told BBC Radio Kent.
"Now we are almost at the start of the season it's time to move on and find some gainful employment somewhere."
And he was keen to stress his departure had nothing to do with the club's financial problems following a dramatic fall in MyFootballClub membership, and a reduction to manager Liam Daish's playing budget.
I am not leaving for any other reason than I need to be employed somewhere."

The former Conference chief executive added: "It's been challenging, a great experience, I've learned a great deal.
"But I am not leaving for any other reason than I need to be employed somewhere."
