Gills dismiss Jackson speculation

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has dismissed speculation that Leicester have bid for striker Simeon Jackson.

National newspapers had reported that the Foxes were close to signing last season's top scorer for £1.5m.

But Stimson told BBC Radio Kent: "No, [I've heard] nothing at all from Leicester, it's paper talk isn't it.

"No-one's made an enquiry to me anyway and I don't think the chairman's had any calls either, so that's pleasing because he is very vital to us."

But Stimson conceded that if a big-money offer did come in for the 22-year-old Canada international, it would be hard to turn down.

I've heard nothing at all from Leicester or anybody about Jacko

"We don't want to lose our better players but at the end of the day, every player has got a price," he said.

"But I've heard nothing at all from Leicester or anybody about Jacko."

Jackson scored 21 goals last season, including the winner in the League Two play-off final against Shrewsbury Town.

He is currently playing for Canada in the Gold Cup.
