Caretaker boss Ronnie Jepson apologised to Gillingham's fans after their 5-0 defeat at Colchester - and insisted some players will have to leave.
"The result told us something we already knew about some of the players at the club who aren't good enough to play for Gillingham," Jepson said.
"People need to be moved on and people need to come in - and the list of people we need to move is quite long.
"To take this club on, we need to instil a stronger mentality."
