Gillingham captain Chris Hope said he was "shell shocked" after the 3-0 home defeat to Barnsley and described the result was an injustice.
"I've never felt like that at half time, to totally dominate a game and go in 2-0 down," Hope told BBC Radio Kent.
"We are a team who attack and defend together and we've got to start getting the ball in the back of the net.
"It wasn't a 3-0. The lads are gutted. The gaffer wanted a response but it wasn't for the want of trying."
