Gillingham sign Johnson
Johnson has a wealth of top-level experience
Johnson is a vastly experienced striker
Striker Tommy Johnson has signed a three-year deal with Gillingham, subject to passing a medical.

The former Celtic and Aston Villa striker will form a new strike partnership with the club's other high-profile signing, Rod Wallace.

Tommy is a very sought-after striker with a terrific track record
Gills chairman Paul Scally
The 31-year-old was set for a medical at the Priestfield on Saturday before joining his new team-mates for a five-day pre-season trip to France.

Johnson had previously been at Scottish club Kilmarnock, who he joined in December 2001 on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.

He has previously played for Notts County, Derby, Aston Villa, Celtic and Everton.

"This is another massive coup for us," chairman Paul Scally told the club's official website.

"Tommy is a very sought-after striker with a terrific track record.

"I'm sure most of our supporters will already know that he is strong, powerful with a tremendous shot.

"Most importantly, we know he can score goals.

"We now have four quality strikers which gives the manager a number of options and will enable us to make a real push for promotion next season."
