X-ray eases Bullard injury fears
Jimmy Bullard is stretchered off at St James' Park

Fulham midfielder Jimmy Bullard could be back in action inside two months despite dislocating his kneecap in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

The 27-year-old was in agony as he was stretchered off after a strong tackle with Scott Parker, leading to fears he may face an extended spell out.

However, Cottagers physio Jason Palmer said: "Jimmy's kneecap was dislocated but we reset it within 25 seconds.

"His X-ray shows no significant damage or fracture, which is very good news."

There was no malice in it from Scott Parker's part at all. Hopefully, it's not as bad as it looked

He added: "We'll get him in for an MRI scan and look at everything in more detail which will tell us how long Jimmy will be out for."

The midfielder has enjoyed a fine start to his Fulham career after joining from Wigan in the summer and manager Chris Coleman admits the injury is "a big loss" to the club.

However, the Welshman added: "Our doctors have done a great job.

"Everyone was a bit shook up and concerned, including Scott Parker who came into our dressing room at half time and at the end to ask about Jimmy.

"There was no malice in it from Scott's part at all. Hopefully, it's not as bad as it looked."

The injury is likely to keep Bullard out of a match-up against his former side on 28 October, but the Londoners will be pencilling in a possible return against Portsmouth on 11 November.
