Forest Green Rovers up for sale in Financial Times

Forest Green Rovers

An advertisement in the Financial Times offering an "unnamed Blue Square Football League club" for sale has been revealed as Forest Green Rovers.

A club source confirmed to BBC Radio Gloucestershire the advert relates to Rovers, but would not comment further.

The small advert describes Forest Green as "more than just a successful club with a prestigious history".

Rovers were relegated from the Blue Square Premier on goal difference after 12 years among the non-league elite.

The club had set a target of raising £250,000 through a share issue by the end of June following the extent of its financial problems becoming public and money raised so far has enabled it to pay tax bills.

Devonshire Corporate Finance on Forest Green

Officials have previously talked about the club being bought in an outright sale as an ideal solution to its problems.

This is now being managed by London-based corporate advisors Devonshire Corporate Finance.

Their advert describes facilities at the New Lawn which was opened in 2006 as "Recently expanded to provide numerous revenue streams with high growth potential, including conferencing, weddings, a gym and leisure centre and public house".

Other options being investigated include investment from potential new shareholder, directors or the club being taken over by someone with a controlling interest.
