Forest Green sign striker Brown

Blue Square Premier side Forest Green Rovers have completed the signing of former Barrow forward David Brown.

The arrival of the 30-year-old comes after Kaid Mohamed was told he can leave the New Lawn.

Manager Jim Harvey said: "I've watched him for a while. He could have joined us in the summer and has good pedigree.

"Kaid has been made available simply because he wants to play regularly and I can't offer him at the moment. There has been no fall-out."

Former Manchester United trainee Brown was released by Barrow so he could make a full-time return to football and he is set to sign a deal through to the end of the season.

"With regard to our team, he will add experience because it is a young squad," said Harvey.

Brown played alongside Forest Green's top scorer Andy Mangan at Accrington Stanley, and counts Hull City, Torquay United, Chester City, Telford United and Hereford United among his other former clubs.
