Leg break ends Bairns defender Jackie McNamara's season

Falkirk defender Jackie McNamara is out for the rest of the season after breaking his leg while on loan at Partick Thistle.

The 36-year-old sustained the injury during Wednesday's 1-0 defeat by Ayr United at Somerset Park.

"He will see a specialist to try to determine just how serious a leg break it is," Partick manager Ian McCall told his club website.

"The best-case scenario is that he will be fit for pre-season training."

McCall added: "A leg break is obviously a bad injury at the best of times and our hope is that it is nothing more than a break and that there isn't - and we don't think there is - any cruciate ligament damage into the bargain."

In February the defender, capped 33 times for Scotland, agreed a one-month loan deal with the First Division club.

The former Dunfermline and Celtic full-back McNamara joined Falkirk in 2008 after a year with Aberdeen.
