Fourth stand setback for Falkirk

Falkirk Stadium
Falkirk Stadium has just two stands at the moment

Falkirk's plans to construct a new East Stand at the Falkirk Stadium, Westfield, have been delayed.

The club had hoped to start work in April on a new seating area to accommodate approximately 2000 fans.

Revised details of the project will now be discussed at a special meeting with Falkirk Council in August.

"Whilst any delay is frustrating, we recognise that we have a complex development situation," said Falkirk chairman Campbell Christie.

The Falkirk Stadium currently has just two stands and has a capacity of around 6000.

However, work on Falkirk's new third, South Stand is is on course to begin in August or early September, after the local council granted planning permission on Monday.

And Christie admitted there are still issues to iron out before the project to construct the fourth and final East Stand can begin.

"Falkirk Community Stadium Ltd must address their three objectives of completing the stadium, repaying council loans and running a viable business," said Christie.

"I would ask supporters to be patient and allow FCSL's proposals to be properly completed as I have no doubt this is in the best interests of the club."
