Everton need to start winning - Leon Osman

Everton midfielder Leon Osman has warned his team-mates that they must begin winning to avoid slipping towards the bottom of the table.

The Blues drew 1-1 with Birmingham City on Sunday to leave them 15th and just two points from the drop zone.

"We're finding ourselves closer and closer to it [the bottom]," Osman told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It's up to us to pick ourselves up and to get those victories that are going to claw us away."

Osman added: "We've been finding it [winning] a little bit hard to come by lately. But we have the quality in the squad and I'm sure we'll get back to that."

The Blues travel to the Stadium of Light on Boxing Day, where they beat Sunderland 2-0 last season, with Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini scoring the goals.

The Blues have just two wins in their last nine matches in all competitions as they struggle with a long injury list.

But Osman hopes they can add to their victories as they attempt to get their season back on track.

"It's become more important now that we find a victory," the 28-year-old continued. "We didn't manage to do that against Birmingham.

"We've got to make sure we try and get maximum points from our next couple of games."
